The Month of the Holy Souls

November is traditionally a month of Remembrance – the month in which we pray for all our deceased loved ones, relations, friends, past benefactors of our parish, and of course. those who have nobody to pray for them.  The Month of November begins with the celebration of All Saints, and then our minds shift to prayers for the Faithful Departed on the 2nd November – All Souls.  On All Souls day, we celebrate 2 Masses, the evening Mass is where we will remember by name all who have died over the past year, and whose funeral rites have been through our parish – we have special named candles burning for them throughout the day – and place with honour our book of the dead, in which are the names of all those whom we as a parish have added – and for whom over 90 Masses will be offered in the coming year.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
